As you know all too well, your breasts are subject to the aging process just like the rest of your body. Pregnancy, nursing, substantial weight loss, and gravity can all take their toll. Your breasts may not feel as firm, and the loss of skin elasticity can lead to sagging. At our practice in Raleigh, NC, a breast lift can be performed to raise and reshape the breasts for a more youthful and attractive appearance.
Dr. Glenn Davis, Dr. Jeremy Pyle, and Dr. Benjamin Wood are known for delivering natural-looking results, which provide their patients with the utmost satisfaction and renewed sense of confidence they deserve.
I developed a large chest in the 8th grade. After years of regular, vigorous exercise —which I would never give up—and despite my efforts to wear supportive sports bras, I realized that my once perky chest lacked its luster. My breasts had fallen flat and were what I would describe as slightly floppy. This is a normal description for a woman who has had children or breastfed, but I was far from that time in my life. I was 21.
Due to gravity and regular exercise, the skin that held my breasts had stretched, causing them to sag.
What to Expect
First, you will meet with Dr. Glenn M. Davis, Dr. Jeremy Pyle, or Dr. Benjamin Wood. Together you will discuss your appearance goals and hopes for surgery. Dr. Davis, Dr. Pyle, and Dr. Wood are all known for putting patients at ease. They understand that this is a big decision for you. Your surgeon’s in-depth consultation will ensure the right level of communication that’s so important before any surgical procedure.
Our surgeons use a variety of the latest techniques. Although no surgery can be performed without incisions, your surgeon will make every effort to minimize scarring. He will discuss various incision options available to you based on the amount of surgical correction needed.
During surgery, the breasts will be lifted and reshaped for a firmer, more youthful appearance. The nipples will remain intact with the underlying breast tissues to prevent loss of sensation, and will be gently re-centered for a more aesthetically pleasing shape and position.
With patient comfort in mind, Dr. Davis, Dr. Pyle, and Dr. Wood utilize fine, absorbable sutures to close the incisions. Your body will naturally absorb the sutures, avoiding the discomfort associated with suture removal. This technique also allows patients the freedom to shower within the first 24 hours after surgery.
Additionally, Dr. Davis, Dr. Pyle, and Dr. Wood do not use drains at the incision site, which decreases the risk of infection and shortens recovery time.
After Your Procedure
Following surgery, you can expect some discomfort and soreness at first. A support garment will be worn initially to provide comfort, help reduce swelling, and facilitate healing. Many women resume normal, gentle daily activities within the first week. However, patient experiences vary. Your surgeon will advise you when more strenuous activity can be resumed.
The New You
After surgery, the breasts sit higher on the chest. They feel and look firmer, providing many patients with enhanced confidence. In addition, patients are often thrilled to have new wardrobe possibilities and better-fitting, more comfortable bra choices. Although the aging process will still affect your body in the future, a breast lift will improve your profile and deliver long-lasting results.
