Liposuction / Fat Removal
Most of us have areas of stubborn fat that simply won’t respond to diet and exercise alone. Liposuction from our Raleigh, NC practice can offer a fantastic improvement of the shape and contour of your body by reducing localized areas of fat. Dr. Glenn M. Davis, Dr. Jeremy Pyle, and Dr. Benjamin Wood are authorities on sculpting the body to reveal the look you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

The Best Candidates
The ideal candidates for liposuction are men who are in good shape overall but battle with localized areas of unwanted fat. Ideal candidates have firm, elastic skin, as loose, sagging skin can compromise the results of this procedure. Liposuction is not a weight loss alternative, so you’ll want to reach a steady target weight before scheduling your procedure. Popular treatment areas include:
- Love handles
- Upper arm
What To Expect
Although several different methods can be used for performing liposuction, both of our surgeons prefer the tumescent technique for its precise results and fast healing time. During tumescent liposuction, tiny incisions are made in inconspicuous areas near the targeted zone. Through these incisions, a saline solution is injected to minimize bleeding and emulsify the fat, making it easier to remove. Your surgeon then uses a hollow surgical wand called a cannula to remove fat cells and sculpt the body.
The entire process from start to finish can be performed on an outpatient basis, although procedure time will vary depending on the area being treated and the amount of fat removed.
After Your Procedure
Directly after your procedure, you will be placed in a compression garment. This garment will help control swelling, minimize bruising, and provide added comfort. You will be advised to wear the garment for several weeks while the skin conforms back to your new contours.
Liposuction results are typically noticeable immediately after surgery, though some bruising and swelling may temporarily mask the final results. While healing rates vary, most of our liposuction patients are able to return to work and normal activities within a week. More vigorous activities should wait until your surgeon gives you the go ahead.
The New You
Expect to see your final results after the swelling dissipates and the compression garment is no longer needed. Fat cells removed with liposuction do not grow back, so if you maintain your weight, you will be able to enjoy your slim and toned look for years to come.
